The Changeling

In my last post, I mentioned that while teaching at ISQSC
I had a free afternoon to walk around town with my camera.

I spent part of the time chasing reflections,
which is kind of like playing with a changeling ~
magical, elusive, dancing this way and that.

Should I shoot straight on or at an angle?
In full light or shadow?  Low POV or high?
High contrast or low?
Look for vivid color harmonies or subdued?
Question after question arose, as I tried to find logic within the
light, angles, colors, and shifting shimmer.

Yes, indeed......like playing with a changeling!

  1. Anna, you've certainly captured a magical world within a world where photographer and subject intermingle and become one! I certainly love that first image as I scroll down through blue sky and clouds and that marvellous and intricate hanging lamp to the depth and colour of the details below. A glimpse of people and their lives in that moment. That fourth images in black and white in glorious! I want to melt into it and become part of the reflections.
Wonderful violins playing silent music in the reflected sky and that last open barber's shop where you enter the intimacy of the scene!
My two favourites are the first photograph and the fourth because I feel as if I'm part of them! I have stepped into the scene most comfortably! Wonderful!

  4. You've captured some really fascinating reflections, Anna. I like how the chandelier in the first one seems as though it is the head and hair of the mannequin.
