Creative ADD?

Someone told me I have Creative ADD.
I think they may have Tourette's Syndrome.

Seriously though, I will own up to finding joy in working in a variety of creative mediums.
I make art quilts for national shows and beadwork, too.

I am fascinated with writing haiku and
learning historical embroidery techniques.

I am totally in love with photography!

I don't see all this variety as a problem,
but instead feel each medium informs and enriches the others.
It's like one happy, creative family working together.

So, where do you stand?
Do you enjoy one creative medium, or are you mistress to many?
Please tell!

Wishing you a wildly creative week!

  2. Yes, you've got it.
No escaping from it either :-)
Te beads are an order of magnitude removed from what I think of as beads: gorgeous.
As for old embroidery techniques: I took a course in goldwork some years back, and loved it. These days the genuine gold and silver threads are not easy to find.

  6. Anna, there are truly not enough superlatives to describe the first two images here. If you have Creative ADD, I am just betting that plenty of people wish they had the same. Me included!!

I think for me, it is Photography ADD. Not only do I love the basic "stuff," but I also love alternative photography techniques, and when time permits I will "go crazy" with Polaroid lifts and transfers, lumen prints, etc.

I actually spent the weekend (yes, it took most of the weekend!) learning how to use a vintage camera that I have. Its now loaded with film and ready to go. Now if only the weather would cooperate!!

Hold onto that Creative ADD Dear Friend!

Thank you so much for sharing with us this week at The Creative Exchange.

    Have a wonderful day!

    lisa.

  12. This is so wonderful, Anna! I love your variety and don't see it as a problem at all! My favourite is definitely photography but I've also tried to play around with inks and acrylic colours last summer and found I liked it very much! I'm absolutely lost when it comes to sewing but I took up knitting again a bit - nothing fancy or complicated, but only a plain scarf.

  13. I am a creativity quack. I snap up whatever it is that catches my attention and run with it for as long as it lasts. Photography, papercrafting, knitting, words.
    That quilt is beautiful.

  21. Beautiful pictures, all of them and they bring vibrancy and colour and beauty into my life! You are so right to use all your creative talents to their full potential. It is a true gift and one to be grateful for. I am sure that you get enormous pleasure from the sheer act of creating. There is great inner harmony in all that you do.

I also enjoy creating different things and photography is in fact only a recent discovery since I've been using a DSLR in the past year. Before that, I had a point and shoot camera - but the love of capturing beauty was already there.

I love crochet and making all sorts of colourful things like mandalas, bunting, wall decorations, etc. I also enjoy making my own cards, sometimes using crocheted objects, sometimes coloured cardstock and various techniques.

It is good to go where the heart takes us... we just need to listen.

I'm so glad I came in to visit you today!

  27. I agree with Nancy -- you seem to be very good at all your creative activities! I find I like to concentrate on one thing at a time...dabbled in water colors, sewing, writing...but have to say photography is my true love.

  28. Wow...you are multi-talented and multi-tasking..I guess I do a little bit of everything but nothing with expertise...;-)

    Great and wonderful photographs.

  32. I agree 100% with you, each medium enriches the others. :) And when someone is as creative and talented as you are, even better. I do many things, but I am good at none ;) But it's fun, and that's all that matters to me.
Have a happy rest of the week!

  33. I love photography above everything else, but that is only because I can make the camera do what I would want to do with mediums like paint. :) But I love it all too. And yes, it all feeds each other!

    ReplyDelete
  34. I think you're exceptionally talented. That necklace is gorgeous...as is the quilt...as are the embroidered flowers...as is your photography. I wish I could do other things but photography is definitely my favorite so I guess I don't take the time to do much else creative. I used to do mail art and would do some collaging and other things but photography is my fave and I find it relaxing and stimulating at the same time.

  39. Your work is beautiful! My creativity is one thing at a time; one wanes and another takes over. Believe that's what is happening w/my photography. Am learning Photoshop, but don't have the desire to go out with my camera.

    You are very blessed.
