The Great Dakota Gathering

This fall, we went to the Great Dakota Gathering in Winona, MN.

It was so inspiring...
the color, the craftsmanship, the generations together -
it was a perfect day!

Happy creating to you.

  1. What a great atmosphere you've captured here, Anna. The wonderful colourful costumes and the expressive black and white shots of the children in costume. It must have been lovely to experience it all in real life!

  2. Thank you, Sandra! It was an exciting experience - the beadwork, appliqué, and color all lit by bright sunlight was striking, to say the least. Quite challenging also, as I was working with a prime lens.

    1. Thanks so much, Cynthia! I found that B&W helped simplify some very "busy" compositions, so the viewer could focus a bit more on the kid's expressions.
P.S. You would've loved the beadwork!
