Today, let's take a tour of the Milwaukee Art Museum.
It's an amazing museum where architecture and art
come together in an impressive, seamless manner.
The Burke Brise Soleill, exterior view -
the "wings" open at 10am and close at 5pm.
They have a wingspan comparable to that of a Boeing 747-400!
The Quadracci Pavilion is the first Santiago Calatrava-designed
building completed in the United States (2001).
The museum's collection includes 40 galleries
and nearly 20,000 works of art.
When your feet get tired and your mind is overwhelmed by all the beauty,
relax and check out Chihuly's blown-glass sculpture.
If you're ever in Milwaukee,WI,
you really need to see the museum for yourself!

Amazing architecture shots! What a wonderful museum!
ReplyDeleteQuite an amazing place. I love your first photo best, quite stunning.
ReplyDeleteAhhh.... I vaguely remember those things called Museums, where people wander about in silent harmony :-) We took our daughter to the Nasher and she was very unimpressed. What a beautiful piece of architecture this museum is - love the sweeping curves in the third shot especially.
ReplyDeleteGreat job in illustrating your beautiful museum. Loved how you captured the art.
ReplyDeleteoh! did you see the China exhibition? I still haven't gotten there to see that. when I was there on July 3rd the museum closed in 10 minutes but I got a peek at some of it and I can't wait to get back for the whole thing. it's interesting to see your perspective and how you photograph things that I've seen so many times myself. I love this museum, it's really the best part of living in this urban jungle. let me know when you're in the area again and we can meet! my fave is the 3rd photo. I hope you have a joyful week Anna!
ReplyDeleteIt looks really wonderful and certainly interesting! I've never been there, but now I'd like to. Thanks for sharing your tour!
ReplyDeleteThis looks like an amazing place Anna, and your photographs of it are wonderful! I especially love the lines in the first 3 photographs here.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for sharing these today at The Creative Exchange.

ReplyDeleteThis is so interesting! Thanks so much for sharing these photos!
ReplyDeleteWhat a treat, Anna, this visit to a marvellous cultural centre.
ReplyDeleteAnd your lens takes all that you throw at it :-) Some very difficult angles.
the last glas sculpture, I have seen a similar one in Venice. Maybe the same artist. The museum seem special in itself.
ReplyDeleteWhat an impressive building and photos.
ReplyDeleteThe building itself is a beautiful work of art! Wonderful photos!
ReplyDeleteThese are all print-worthy shots, Anna. Would make a great series of note cards. :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful place! We can't photograph inside our museum, the Phoenix Art Museum. I was there the other day and took some photos out in the sculpture garden. When I came back in I saw a "No Photographing in the Sculpture Garden" sign but the guard had seen me out there doing it. Oh, well.
ReplyDeletei often walk around there on my lunch or when i just need to see beauty.

ReplyDeleteOh my Anna, I must visit that museum someday! I would get lost in there between the art and the architecture! I'll have to ask you to be my personal tour guide. :) Thanks so much for linking in to Exploring with a Camera!
ReplyDeleteThe angle on the first shot is awesome!!
ReplyDeleteIt's as if the architecture IS the art. They are one and the same and tied together. Terrific series!
ReplyDeleteThe museum itself is piece of art at least in the first shot. Beautiful building.
