Macro World

I have been admiring the world of macro photography for sometime now.
So, I saved and saved some more and finally,
 ordered a macro lens.
It arrived on Thursday..... love it!

St. Paul

I want to thank the students that attended my art quilt and bead embroidery classes
at the Minnesota Quilters Show and Conference.
I appreciate your enthusiasm and eagerness to learn!

In the big city, I find I am fascinated by reflections in glass and
the abstract shapes that are everywhere you turn.
Here are some glimpses of St. Paul, Minnesota.

Friend or Foe?

The bane of gardeners and those that enjoy a perfect lawn,
the lowly dandelion seen in a different light exhibits intricate, delightful form.
Our view of things is all a matter of perspective, both literally and figuratively!

The challenge at Exploring with a Camera,
was to look at the world from a flower's point of view.
So literally, here we are, down low and reaching for the sky.

P.S. I'm off to teach art quilting and beading at the MN Quilters Show & Conference.
Hope to see you there.

Aglow

Our front woods are aglow with
Forget-Me-Nots.

It's amazing how this delicate, tiny flower can produce such a dramatic, colorful scene,
when grouped together!

Hope your weekend is colorful.

Emily

This morning, I am contributing to The Inspiration Studio.
The month of June, our theme is the color white.
You will find photo inspiration, light text, a Flickr feature each afternoon,
and an evening contribution from Kim.
Lots of beautiful whiteness!
Hope you can visit.

My contribution is about the poet, Emily Dickinson.
Since she was known to wear only white in her later years,
I decided to capture a vintage looking dress out among our fruit trees.

Ferns

Coiled spirals seeking
sunshine, shadow, rain, and warmth,
Exuberant fronds.

Each year, I look forward to the unfolding of our ferns.
From fiddleheads to full grown ferns,
they present beautiful and interesting forms.
This gift from Mother Nature inspired my art quilt, Unfolding,
which you can view here.
